to Grounded Yoga & Pilates with me, Ellie.
I’m based in the eastern suburbs of adelaide, south australia, where I teach yoga & pilates and write blogs for Aleenta Health Club, chaos-plant the garden, bake inhuman amounts of banana bread, and raise kids with my husband trav, who is a total legend and also teaches self defence nearby (you should check him out).
Apart from gardening, I love to be outdoors, go hiking, get the kids outdoors hiking with motivational snacks, watch a healthy(ish) amount of netflix, not wear shoes but own lots of pairs of boots, hang out with good humans, and keep my business as local as possible.
The methods of movement I teach are based on the principle that your mind and body aren’t (and never were) separate things, and that connection is absolute.
I teach mat pilates, reformer pilates, vinyasa yoga, prenatal/postnatal yoga & yin. classes often include breath work, meditation and myofascial release.
The physical body.
Grounded classes are designed to help you figure out that physical movement helps you feel good and when you feel good you want to move more.
We work on the basis that your body’s strength and flexibility are not only equally important but perpetuate each other, and your cells, systems, chemicals & mechanics move together in many different cycles.
You might Get curious about these connections in your own time. You might not. either way, physical movement is a good starting point if you’re trying to feel more in control.
What fun.
my teaching methods are designed to improve core strength, enhance performance, reduce stress & anxiety, improve spinal health & posture, and decrease muscle tension.
Philosophy.
some of the modern practices i study and teach are informed by the traditions of yoga, ayurveda, chinese medicine, grounded in understanding that the rhythm of human life reflects the cycles of nature.
this sense of connection is the basis for all grounded classes.
A prescription for the ‘tonic of wildness’ (Henry David Thoreau) is all that’s required to venture into the science or stories that help you make sense of the world.

We recognise our yoga practices come from the rich spiritual traditions and cultures of ancient south asian civilisations.
